The Bread of Life
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
A new battle cry is trumpeted across America, the land of “In God, we trust,” to make America healthy again. Chronic illness caused by self-indulgence is a plague upon this land. I am the example of a typical American, living unhealthy, obese, averaging four to six chronic diseases, on the verge of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and a body plagued with inflammation and the aches and pains that result from it. I carried this burden, the monkey on my back weighing over 105 pounds, flirting with 300 pounds most of my life. Issuing blame for everything life brought upon me, I came to the crossroads of a mirror to face my enemy, and the enemy is me.
At the crossroads, to the right, a smooth, paved path and comfort stops along the way to feed my addictions to hide my pain—to the left, a mountain-rutted road through a wasteland desert to an oasis of restoration. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I knew restoration takes determination and perseverance—I knew I could not do it alone, so I prayed and asked God to restore me—I started with a foundation in Christ.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.—Philippians 4:13
What can a broken, ailment-ridden man do to become healthy again? What formula will lead me back to my youthful joy and exuberance? Health is a blessing from God. As we honor our bodies, we honor the Creator who designed us. Let’s take a moment to reflect on these precious gifts of vitality and wellness. The first step in restoration and renewal, the first action to making yourself healthy again, is trusting God.
- “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.” – James 5:15
- “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
- “The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.” – Psalms 41:3
- “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the LORD.” – Jeremiah 30:17
- “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds, we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5
Packed with wisdom, the Bible reminds us of God’s ability to restore us—body, mind, and spirit.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” – Romans 12:1
- Body:

- Power of Fasting:
- When I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the LORD had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water.— Deuteronomy 9:9
- “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day.” – Esther 4:16
After watching hundreds of hours of online lectures from prominent physicians and scientists, reading their books, analyzing peer-reviewed articles, and facing off with local doctors who refused to listen to what I had to say, I realized I would have to become the test case rat/guinea pig and just do it. The common elements that seemed central to restoring the body were:
- Eating “Real Food!”—The main challenge is sourcing “Real Food”
- What is real food? Whole food is close to natural sources, unhampered as genetically modified, hormones treated, and chemically grown/raised. How do you accomplish this?
- 1.1.1.Make friends with a local, trusted regenerative organic farmer/rancher.
- 1.1.2.Grow a garden in good soil treated with only natural fertilizers (we have 50-year-old manure available.)
- 1.1.3. Find a source for Raw dairy from A2 protein cows or goat’s milk.
- 1.1.4.Pasture raised grass-finished lean proteins—eggs, chickens, beef, pork, and bison.
- 1.1.5. Shop at farmer’s markets and trusted organic sources, and avoid Walmart.
- 1.1.6 Sorry, you have to abstain from all fast foods.
- What is real food? Whole food is close to natural sources, unhampered as genetically modified, hormones treated, and chemically grown/raised. How do you accomplish this?
- Increase Fermented Food consumption.
- Eliminate all sugar, especially refined sugars. This includes honey, agave, and fake sweeteners—try Allulose and Inulin.
- Fructose can overwhelm the liver and cause a “Fatty Liver,” but fruit can be consumed in small amounts as fruits, not juices.
- Remember, carbohydrates are just forms of sugars.
- Eliminate or significantly reduce alcohol.
- Reduce all carbohydrates to less than 100 grams per day, preferably less than 50 grams. Avoid starchy vegetables; get the carbs from your garden’s fresh, real, colorful, and leafy green vegetables.
- FASTING—intermittent fasting (eating less often) by narrowing your eating window from 12-16 hours down to one meal a day (in my case, one meal a day, OMAD). With occasional extended fasts of 72 to 100 hours, this takes some training and much time off carbs and sugar.
- Eat More Good Fat.
- Get your rest and reduce stress.
- Move more.
I bounced all of this over what scripture and God said about foods, fasting, and health, and my discernment said, “Sounds like commonsense.” So I started this journey down the steep and treacherous road to making myself healthy again—I became a test case. I knew it must be grounded in God’s word and Will. I knew this was the right thing to do because God placed us in the perfect place to find the perfect food. God placed us on His restoration road.
God commands me to share the lessons and encourage others to come to the restoration road, so I knew I must take a physician/scientific approach that requires collecting data to track progress. I also knew I would have to collect empirical data from blood tests and clinical sources, e.g., CT Scans. The roadblocks became evident in the current healthcare bureaucracy, which was influenced by “Big Pharmaceutical” and “Big Food.” I found alternate sources with functional health and natural path providers and joined Levels Health and Function Health. I also started using a continuous glucose monitor.
Based on my real-world empirical findings, I will produce videos on YouTube, Facebook, and Rumble, Write articles and post them on my website, and try to witness as many people as I can along the journey.
